The Hocken collects widely in relation to the history
and culture of New Zealand, with a special emphasis on
the Otago and Southland regions of New Zealand.

The collections include books, ephemera, posters,
newspapers, journals, music, maps, archives, manuscripts,
photographs, paintings, drawings and film. In date, they
range from the seventeeth century to the present day.

The McNab New Zealand Collection is held at the Moray Place
Library and is a heritage collection that can only be used
on the third floor. The Collection contains a very wide range
of New Zealand books, magazines, newspapers, and documents.

Although material for the whole country is included there is
a particular emphasis on Otago and Southland.
