tribute of respect in stronger and more 
unmistakeable terms, than a mere testimonial, 
present you with a night telescope in appreciation 
of your unremitting kindness to us during our wind-
bound passage from Dunedin and sincerely trust that 
the day is not far distant when we shall see you in 
command of a much larger boat, and one that will be 
equal in accommodation to your own nautical skill 
and gentlemanly bearing towards your passengers, 
and to the wants of the growing traffic of these
ports.
